LaDona Moore Obituary

LaDona LaFitte Moore
05/25/1947 - 07/11/2025
LaDona LaFitte Moore passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025. She was born in Casper, Wyoming to Dorothy and Foch LaFitte, Sr. on May 25, 1947. As the eldest of four children, she embraced her role as a natural big sister with love and leadership. The daughter of a World War II veteran and descended from pirate ancestry, LaDona was a strong, spirited woman known for her fierce loyalty, boundless generosity, and deep love for family, friends, and many dogs. She was the bedrock matriarch of her family, and her legacy will endure in all of us.
LaDona graduated from Lee High School in Midland, Texas, in 1965 and married Richard, who proposed after just six weeks of dating. After earning a college degree from Angelo State University, she moved to Los Angeles, where she thrived in the vibrant Southern California lifestyle and worked in sales for a large sunglasses wholesaler. In the 1970s, she returned to West Texas to raise her family and began a rewarding career as a public school teacher at Lamar and Milam Elementary Schools in Midland. She later left teaching to become an active volunteer and board member at Hillander School, where both of her sons attended.
In retirement, LaDona and Richard settled in Westlake, Texas to be near their sons and grandchildren in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She brought beauty, warmth, and style to everything she did-from her exquisite needlepoint creations to the lavish feasts she prepared for family gatherings. Her daily phone calls and occasional power shopping excursions with her best friend and high school classmate Janet "JJ" Allison were a treasured part of her life.
LaDona and Richard also enjoyed time at their second homes in California and Florida, where they made lasting memories. Above all, LaDona cherished her role as Mimi. She doted on her grandchildren and nephew, always seeing what made each of them special and sharing her pride in them openly and often. Her love was wholehearted and unconditional-and returned to her just as fully.
LaDona is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Richard L. Moore; her sons Kevin R. Moore (Mandy) and Ryan C. Moore (Lisa); her grandchildren Scarlett E. Moore, R. Brennan Moore, John Robert Moore, and Annabelle A. Moore; her siblings Foch LaFitte, Jr., Michelle L. McDuffee (John), and John E. LaFitte; and her nephew Ian L. McDuffee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Betty and Joe H. Moore, and her brother-in-law Stephen S. Moore.
A viewing and funeral will be held by her beloved family at a future date at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034. Condolences may be expressed at www.BluebonnetHills.com.
