Laura Busby Obituary

Laura Mozelle Busby, was born on May 8, 1927 in Mill Creek, Oklahoma.

The Family eventually moved to Henryetta, Oklahoma where Laura, ever the industrious student, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Henryetta High School. Plans to attend university were interrupted by World War II, and Laura Mozelle responded to the call for Women in the Workplace. Relocating to Tulsa, Oklahoma Laura trained in banking, an occupation that highlighted her business acumen, and introduced her to the Petroleum Industry.

Upon Leonard H Busby's return from the US Navy, Laura and Leonard, High School Sweethearts, married on May 26, 1946. And Laura Mozelle encouraged Leonard to study Petroleum Engineering.

Laura Mozelle, Leonard, and their only child Donna, relocated to Odessa, Texas in the early 1950's. Laura Mozelle soon found herself Private Secretary to the Laughlin Bros, and her Petroleum Industry education quickly paralleled her Husbands.

Leonard's success in the Industry took the family to Ft Worth, Texas, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Dallas, Texas.

These were extremely creative years for Laura Mozelle. Now a stay-at-home-Mom, Mo, as she is affectionately known, indulged her passion for interior decorating, fashion design, landscape gardening, cuisine, literature, music and the arts.

In 1966, Mo and Leonard moved to Midland, Texas, and in 1967 Mo, Leonard and Rudy Rendall opened B&R Inspection and Equipment Company Inc.

Rudy left B&R in 1969,and together Mo and Leonard successfully operated their company for forty years.

In May 2006, Mo and Leonard celebrated sixty years of marriage.

Mo, ever passionate about the Arts, and ever aware of the needs of others, actively supported the Midland Symphony, Museum of the South West, Senior Citizens Services, Safe-Place, and her great love: High Sky Children's Ranch.

Laura Mozelle Busby peacefully left on Mother's day, Sunday May 11, 2008,

surrounded by flowers, countless cards, her favorite music and her loving daughter and son-in-law by her side.

Her Husband Leonard H Busby preceded her in death on January 26, 2007.

Laura Mozelle is survived by her daughter Donna Busby Lauher and her husband Mats Lennerhagen; her sisters Polly Norman, Jane Thompson and Ada-Ruth Wadley, her brother Skip McClendon, and a host of beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebratory Memorial Service will be held at a later date, and announced in this paper.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to High Sky Children's Ranch, Safe-Place, Senior Citizens Services, or to the charity of one's choice.

Aunt Mo, you will forever be sorely missed and greatly loved. I thank you for all you gave for so many years... for being the second mother to me, for the wisdom, guidance, and support, especially through my teenage and young adult years.

It saddened me greatly the changes that came with the beginning strokes, but I know you are well and fine now and in good hands and in the company of All Our Relations, surrounded with love. There's a great reunion and great joy on the other side, as our family mourns on this one.

Give All Our Relations a big hug for me in Love and Light, especially Dad. May the Golden Light of the Christ Power always fill and protect you.

Dear family,

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Busby's passing. Years ago, she was one of my regular customers at Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo). She would always wait in line so that I could help her and we would always visit for a while as I handled her transactions. She was always so sweet to me and I really enjoyed seeing her come in each time. She always talked so fondly of you, Donna, and was very proud of you. I know that she will be greatly missed.
