Lynn Conine Obituary

Lynn Wayne Conine
10/29/1948 - 11/01/2025
On November 1, 2025, All Saints Day, Lynn Wayne Conine went to his heavenly home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lynn, LW as he was known in grade and high school, was born October 29, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, to parents Lowell William Conine and Rilza Sarah Huggins Conine. His family soon moved to Houston where he lived for the first 12 years of his life. Upon the death of his father, Lynn and his mother returned to Fort Worth where he attended Lake Worth Elementary School and graduated in 1967 from Lake Worth High School. Following graduation from Texas Tech University in 1971 with a mechanical engineering degree, Lynn began his career in the oil and gas industry with Halliburton Services in Beaumont, Texas. Thus began a 52-year career in an industry that he loved. He was employed by numerous oil and gas companies in both Houston and Midland, Texas. Additionally, he was part owner of a service company. He also provided consulting services with assignments all over the world including Mexico, Venezuela, London, Oman, Canada, Brazil and Russia. During his lengthy career, he most importantly made dear friends that he continued to keep up with throughout his life. 1971 was also the year Lynn and wife Beverly Lumpkin Conine were married and would have celebrated their 54th anniversary in November 2025.
Lynn was a life-long golfer, playing golf many times in Scotland and in fact on courses all over the U.S. and the world. He was an avid sailor in both bay and offshore waters tallying over 6,000 nautical miles in the Gulf of Mexico.
Lynn loved classical music as well as Jimmy Buffet tunes. One of his favorite Jimmy Buffet quotes being "there's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning!" He was a big fan of the Houston Oilers and the Houston Astros. He especially enjoyed listening to every Astros game on the radio in his rocking chair on the back porch in Round Top enjoying the beautiful country view. Lynn enjoyed listening to lectures about the Bible as well as numerous other topics. He continued to love learning! Lynn and Beverly traveled all over the world and enjoyed many cruises with friends.
Lynn was a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas from 1986 to present time.
In 2016, Lynn and Beverly made Round Top, Texas, their permanent home and this move began another chapter of their lives. Upon his death he was completing the final year of enthusiastically serving three terms as an Alderman for the Town Council of Round Top where he had put his engineering experience to good use for various projects for the town including but not limited to the waste water system and establishing and chairing the Long Range Planning committee.
Lynn leaves behind his beloved wife of 54 years, Beverly Lumpkin Conine, daughter, Emily Elizabeth Conine, of Houston, Texas, daughter, Jennifer Ann Conine Murley and her husband, Randy Murley and granddaughter, AnnaLynn Howell Murley of Henderson, Nevada, and grandson, Nicholas Glen Bailey of Denton, Texas. Also, surviving Lynn are sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley Lumpkin Dinwiddie and David Lee Dinwiddie of Albuquerque, New Mexico as well as numerous cousins and many, many beloved friends.
Lynn's faith from early years on was an important part of his life. He grew up active in the Baptist Church and Lynn and Beverly were confirmed Episcopalians at Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity, Midland, Texas in 1982. Lynn and Beverly are charter members of Saint Cecilia's Episcopal Church, Round Top, Texas, an Episcopal mission plant of 4 years in Round Top.
A Memorial service honoring Lynn will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 14, 2025 at Saint Cecilia's Episcopal Church in Henkle Square, Round Top, Texas.
