Patsy Bucy Obituary

Life on this earth ended for Patsy Lee Bucy during the wee hours of Saturday morning, January 15, 2022. That is the moment she stepped into God's glory to live with Him forever. Pat had been sick for the last two months of her life, but her health prior to that was incredible for someone who was 91 years of age. She would say, "I am 91 1/2 and it is the 1/2 that is killing me." Pat entered this life on July 7, 1930, as the only child of Clint Samuel Keith and Bertha Kruppe Keith. She was born in Enid, Oklahoma but her parents wised up and moved to Texas while Pat was still in school. She graduated high school in Lubbock and attended Texas Tech University as a Home Economics student. She would have graduated from Tech had it not been for a tall, lanky boy named Billy James Bucy. Their love grew and they married in 1950. When Bill received his degree in chemical engineering, they left Lubbock to begin his career with the Western Company and start their family. They moved often, and Pat would barely get boxes unpacked when it was time to pack up again. Their first daughter, Sharon (Barnett), was born in 1951. Daughter number two, Pam (Gunn/Pett), was born in 1952. Their third and final child, Keith Bucy (Vickie), arrived in 1954. The family tree grew as Pat's three children gave them six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Whew! That's a lot of birthdays to remember. As a Home Economics major, you can imagine that Pat ran a tight ship at home. Everyone knew what was expected of them and they obeyed. The children always described their mother as no nonsense. Pat may have inherited that trait from her German born grandfather. He had been a drummer boy for the Kaiser of Germany. His military training carried over to Pat's mother and then on to her. Pat attended Memorial Christian Church and First Christian Church and one of her scheduled weekly events was to serve in their food pantry. She loved being a part of the choir plus serving as a deaconess. Pat also delivered Meals on Wheels. In 1998, Pat moved her childless aunt from California to Midland. Until Martha's death, Pat cared for her as a loving daughter would care for her mother. Deep grief came to her in life as she experienced Pam's death (and Pam's husband, Jim), and Bill's sudden death. Manor Park was her home for the last 5 years of her life. The family is grateful to all the employees at Manor Park who cared for Pat. A special shout out to Tina at Mabee Center. She compassionately and tenderly nursed Pat as her health declined. There will be no service at this time. However, a Memorial Celebration will take place later. Arrangements are by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. I was in Bill and Pats Sunday school class at FCC Midland. She was such a joy to know and was happy in spirit any time I was around her. Her smile was contagious. She was so supportive of Bill and I enjoyed getting to know them both. I went to Manor park a year or so ago to visit her before I moved away. It was a nice visit and she assured me she was doing well. She will be greatly missed. Prayers for all those that loved her.
