Refugio del Llano Obituary
Refugio "Ruth" del Llano Celebrating the life of Refugio "Ruth" del Llano who was born in Mazapil, Zacatecas, Mexico, on July 21, 1921, to Evaristo and Felicitas del Llano, and who passed away June 1, 2009. Her home was in Roswell, New Mexico until 3 years ago when she made Midland, Texas, home. Ruth (known to family and friends as Cuca) never married and remained as pronounced by all, "an unclaimed blessing". She was a homemaker in Roswell, New Mexico, and reared several children of friends and family through day-nursery care in her home. Some of those children had children of their own and would request Ruth's loving and devoted care for them. Besides caring for children, her crocheting was her other passion and won several awards and recognition in fairs and art shows in Roswell. Her last few years have been spent creating many prize collections for family and friends. She has also provided selected pieces for United Methodist Women at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, in Midland, for sale at their bazaar benefiting mission work. While in Roswell, she was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and by three brothers, Jesus, Margarito and Manuel. She is survived in her immediate family by nephew, Ray del Llano and his wife Mary Sue of Midland, Texas; nieces, Evira Barrett and her husband Harry, Cecelia Mills and her husband Bill, all of Connecticut; nephew, Ronnie del Llano and his wife Dru of Tempe, Arizona. Surviving also in Roswell is Senaida del Llano, sister-in-law. There are several grand and great-grandnephews and nieces surviving and who will also miss her dearly. Ruth has many cousins in Roswell, EI Paso, and California. Through her life's journey, Ruth has endured many overwhelming adversities with strength, poise and dignity. She has been a great inspiration to all, especially to her grandnieces and leaves an honorable and praiseworthy legacy to her great-grandnieces and nephews. Ruth, a devoted Catholic, will be interred near her deceased family in Roswell, NM. We have been blessed with the companionship of a magnificent life. Services are pending in Roswell, New Mexico. Family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Midland, P.O. 2621, Midland, Texas 79702. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
