Robert Bivens Obituary

Robert Reece Bivens, 53, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in Midland, Texas. Reece was born on June 14, 1965 in Amarillo, Texas to Bob and Kay Bivens. The family moved to Midland in 1980, where he graduated high school from Midland High in 1983. He went on to attend Midland College where he earned his Associates Degree, followed by UTPB. He spent the greater part of his adult life working in sales, as a landman and eventually found his passion in real estate at Legacy Real Estate. Reece had a quick wit and many interests. He was an avid reader, music lover, art enthusiast, trivia master, movie collector and passionate about all things architectural. He was chosen as the Volunteer of the Year for Basin PBS in 2017. He was an active member at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where he was involved in the choir and Newcomer Meeting Ministry. He was always known for helping out wherever he could, and getting things done. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went, especially with the baristas at Starbucks as he enjoyed his daily, (sometimes twice daily), venti Americano. Reece was welcomed to Heaven by his grandparents, Reece Bivens, Ahlene Bivens Lane, and Richard Lane; Doc and Lessie Castleberry. He will be dearly missed by his parents, Bob and Kay Bivens; sister Missy Floyd and husband, Jay, and their daughters, Taylor and Addison Floyd. The highlight of his life were his two precious nieces. They shared countless hours building Barbie dream houses, having slumber parties, baking cookies, watching movies and writing New Years Resolutions to start the New Year off right. He is also survived by his uncle, Billy Castleberry, his aunt, Beth Castleberry and several cousins. Reece will be remembered as a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend. The family would like to express gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from numerous friends across the community. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church or First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the visitation, 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2018 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2018 at First Baptist Church Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com.
