Ruby Warner Weiss

1924 - 2021

Ruby Warner Weiss, born July 11, 1924, Ruby passed away on April 3, 2021. On most tombstones those dates are separated by a dash, a very short line. I'm going to tell you what that line represents. I am going to tell you the story of that line. Ruby Weiss was the kindest, most caring person I have ever known. You can tell from the dates that the early years were spent enduring the Great Depression. There were times when school supplies were hard to come by. There were times when a nickel for ice cream or candy was a great treasure. Ruby emerged as a generous, giving person. She was also very strong. Then the line becomes a love story, a love story that defied the attempts that the Depression should have made on her. She found her soulmate, also the product of a hardscrabble youth. "Red" Weiss became the love of her life. In a long life together they became Christians, Christian in every sense of the word. They looked forward to spending time with their fellow church goers as well as traveling. The hardest thing in her life was losing her husband, but she continued on with a heavy heart. They raised two children, Anita Gay and Fred, Jr. in a loving home. Of the six siblings in the Warner home, two have survived Ruby: June King and Ray "Bud" Warner. She is preceded in death by Troy Warner, Connie Warner, Jewell Warner, and Zona Day. She enjoyed her family of two Grandchildren, five Great Grandchildren and Sam her son-in-law. The family would like to express their gratitude towards Cindy, Cathy and Glenna of Home Instead Senior Care for their companionship and special friendship. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held Friday, April 9, 2021, 1:00pm, Resthaven Memorial Park, Midland, Texas.
