Midland - Shirley J. Walker, passed away peacefully Saturday March 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service. Shirley was born December 5, 1932, the daughter of Grace Lathrop Hoag Humerickhouse and Joseph Solomon Humerickhouse. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth and generosity.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Walker of Midland, Texas; her daughter, Debbie Pelham (Mark) of Midland, Texas; her son, Mike Walker (Peggy) of McKinney, Texas; and her brother, Joe Dee Humerickhouse (Thelma) of Osage City, Kansas. Shirley was also a cherished grandmother to five grandchildren-Joshua Pelham, Jacob Pelham, Ashley Rinn (Ryan), Kayla Perrin (Dayton), and Shane Walker (Hannah) -as well as a loving great-grandmother to Emma and Everly Perrin, River Rinn, and Olivia Walker.
Shirley found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially putting puzzles together and playing games of all kinds. She was always ready for a challenge, whether at the game table or in her dedication to serving her community. Her volunteer work at the Midland Confederate Air Force and the Petroleum Museum reflected her deep love for history and her commitment to preserving it for future generations. Shirley also found many other volunteer activities to give back to the community, including use of her accounting profession to help those in need with filing tax returns.
Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit lives on in the memories shared by her family and friends. Her kindness, humor, and unwavering love will remain in the hearts of those she left behind.
May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave.
