Mr. Alfred Don Creed, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away early Friday morning, April 27, 2018, at his home. Mr. Creed was born January 20, 1937, in Surry County, one of ten children born to the late George Winston and Pearlie Lowe Creed. Alfred served our country in the United States Army from 1959 until 1961. He retired from Mountain Lumber and Pallet Company after 30 years of service and was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church. He is survived by seven stepchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; ten great-stepgrandchildren; a great-great-stepgrandchild; two sisters, Annette Eller of Galax, VA, and Virginia McKnight of Clemmons; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bennie and Carlene Creed of Lowgap and Buddy and Catherine Creed of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Creed was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Vaughn Creed; his second wife, Lessie Hodges Creed; a stepson, Douglas Hodges; a stepgranddaughter, Heather Garris; three sisters, Geneva, Roxie, and Maurice; and three brothers, Robert, Tommy, and Raymond. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 30, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jonathan Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Beulah United Methodist Church Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Beulah United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Dave Whitfield, 1076 Hidden Valley Road, Lowgap, NC 27024.
