Mr. Daniel Jake Leftwich, 43, of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, May 9, 2016. He was born in Surry County on January 17, 1973, to Phyllis Jean Vaughn Leftwich and the late Howard Edward Leftwich. Daniel was employed by Surry Yadkin Electric and of the Baptist Faith. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend, "our hero." Daniel was an avid fan of comic books, Carolina Basketball and Dallas Cowboys Football. He is survived by his mother and step father, Phyllis and Buddy Easter of Mount Airy; sisters and brother-in-law, Robin Leftwich of High Point, Penny and Sam Huff of Mount Airy and Brigette Easter of Mount Airy; grandmother, Pauline Vaughn; his adored niece and nephews, Lauren Huff of King, Dustin Huff and wife, Tiffany of Cana, Drew Huff of Winston-Salem; cherished great niece, Samantha "the Tornado" Huff. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Fancy Gap Baptist Church with Rev Dwight Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Fancy Gap Baptist Church on Wednesday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
