Drury Smith Obituary

Drury Phillip Smith, age 70, Pilot Mountain, passed away on Sept. 20, 2022, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born on Feb. 13, 1952, in Forsyth County to the late Glenn and June Jackson Smith. Phil worked as a tobacco farmer on the Smith family farm in Stokes County. Over the years, he enjoyed bird hunting, listening to music, and sharing stories with his close friends. He was an avid UNC basketball fan, passionately following the Tarheels from the basement to New Orleans in 1982. He was most proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Martha Love Smith; son; Chase (Jenna) Smith; grandsons, Miller, Max, and Porter Smith; sister, Sarah Simmons; brother-in-law, Terry (Connie) Love; nephew, Jesse Simmons; niece, Meghan Roberson; and many more nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Smith. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 24, at First United Methodist Church of Pilot Mountain at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jeremy Pegram officiating. The family will receive visitors immediately following the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Music Department at First United Methodist Church, 210 W Marion St, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. Cox-Needham Funeral Home is serving the Smith family.
