Mrs. Foye Opal Chappell Wagoner, of Elkin, formerly of Cross Creek Drive, Mount Airy, was united with her heavenly Father on Sunday, September 18, 2016. She died at her home with her girls by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Juno Chappell, 11 brothers and sisters, and her beloved husband of 67 years, Edward Carroll Wagoner. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Mount Airy, NC. She leaves behind to cherish her wonderful memories, two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Eddie Johnson of Elkin and Harriett and Ed Childress of Pinnacle; and her constant companion, a devoted Yorkie, "Scrapper." She (Nana) was adored by her five grandchildren and their spouses, Trevar (Sherry) Johnson, Tracy (Lisa) Johnson, and Shera (Rodney) Holder, all of Dobson, Corey (Autumn) Berrier of Raleigh and Josh Berrier of Winston-Salem and two step-grandchildren, Josh (Kimberly) Childress of Pinnacle and Tate Childress of King, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She met the love of her life while attending Franklin School and went on to continue her education as a cosmetologist eventually owning her own business, Foye's Beauty Shop. Although busy with a career, she was always very family focused and was constantly cooking, canning, pickling and making jams and jellies. Nana's pickles and pound cakes became her specialty along with her wonderful fruit cakes. Her last years were dedicated to looking after her husband and spoiling her great-grandchildren. She was smart, funny, and beautiful, inside and out. She loved God, family, friends, and "Wheel of Fortune." She was blessed to have three loving caregivers, Judy Draughn, Sandra Martin, and Sharon Sparger (niece) and many more, dear family members and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with the Rev. Deward Scott officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time for the service.
