Lois Marthalene Smith Hodges, age 91, of Mount Airy, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born in Surry County on June 5, 1930, to the late Silas Columbus Smith and the late Lema Octavia Doss Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband B.J. Hodges; and brother, Joseph C. Smith. She was the branch Manager of First Union Bank in Dobson until she retired after several years in banking. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law: Bruce and Linda Hodges; Barry and Darlene Hodges; grandchildren, Stephanie and Joseph Wages, Courtney Carr, Kevin and Caitlin Hodges, Landon and Emily Hodges, Keely and Kipp Casstevens; step-grandchildren, Patrick Biggs, Heather and Rob Acton, Andrew Fulton, Randy and Maria Graybeal; great-grandchildren, Cameron Wages, Alex Wages, Paxon Carr, Rose Hodges, Noah Hodges; step-great-grandchildren, Hana Aron, Brianna Graybeal, Miranda Graybeal, Asher Graybeal. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Kyle Caudle will officiate the services. Her body will lie in state from 1 p.m. to time of her service at 3 p.m.. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Hodges family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to Piney Grove Baptist Church, 278 Piney Grove Ch. Road, Mount Airy, NCF 27030. There will be no formal services held at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
