Mary Ann Scott D'Amico of Peter Cotton Trail, Mount Airy, passed away on April 26, 2021 surrounded by her family. Mary Ann was born in Surry County to Terry and Eara Elizabeth Scott on Dec. 7, 1965. She was a 1984 graduate of North Surry High School and married Philip D'Amico Jr. on Sept. 21, 1991. Mary Ann worked at Burton Signworks and later she loved to clean houses, but her most important "job" was raising her son, Tanner Phelps D'Amico. She was a proud mother and wife. Mary Ann had a spectacular strong voice and she and her sister Pat began Sister and Co. in the late 80s. She carried the talent and love for music to many local areas in Mount Airy and Winston-Salem. Sister and Co. sang many years at the annual Autumn Leaves Festival here in Mount Airy, which was one of her favorite events. She and her husband, Philip, loved to ride Harley's and gather with friends when they had a free weekend. Before becoming ill, she loved being a homemaker, cooking her mother's recipes, and taking care of the two men in her life, Tanner, her son, and Philip, her husband. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Philip D'Amico Jr., of Peter Cotton Trail on Feb. 22, 2018; her parents, Terry and Eara Elizabeth Scott; and an infant sister, Frances Scott. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Tanner Phelps D'Amico, of the home; sister, Pat (Steve) Mabe; brother, Dennis "Michael" Scott; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Philip and Juanita D'Amico of Mount Airy. Funeral services for Mary Ann will be held on Saturday, May 1, at 3:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home with burial to follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. at Moody's. Angela Dorsey, her cousin, wants to thank Mountain Valley Hospice for their care and support which allowed her to bring Mary Ann home for her last days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care in her memory. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
