BUTTE - Alice Joan Fleming, born March 30, 1940, in Grandville, North Dakota, to Lawson G. Tucker and Tennie McFarland Tucker, passed away peacefully in her home on September 20, 2022, surrounded by family. Joan loved spending time with her family, and she cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Joan enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, working in her yard, and planting trees and flowers. Joan relished helping at church in many ways. Joan was a member of the S.W. Church of Christ. Joan was very passionate about baking, and she loved to share her goodies with everyone, especially during the holidays.
Joan loved the mountains, being surrounded in its beauty and serenity. She loved her dogs, Beau, Bear and Ninja. They gave her great comfort during her retirement years. Joan retired as a Home Attendant with the State of Montana.
Joan is survived by her sister, Alberta Stevenson, Butte; daughter, Billie Jo Fleming (Paul Smith) Anaconda; son, Cliff Fleming, Butte; grandchildren: Alyssa Smith (Bozeman), Dan Blackburn (Amanda), Cheryl Blackburn and Joey Fleming, all of Butte, Wally Jemmings, Jr. (Nikki), Helena, Mark Jemmings (Betty), Butte; great-grandchildren: Drianna McAninch, Avery Dunlap, Kaiya Blackburn, Bridger and Allison Woodbury, Nikalys, Markie and Mason Jemmings, Alyx (Amador) Montiel; great-great-grandchildren: Blaze Jemmings and Evelyn Montiel and lifelong friend, Sally Harris Crawford.
Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Jemmings; sons: William Fleming, Steve Fleming; Natasha Jemmings, baby boys: Joseph Fleming and Steve Hakala and ex-husband, William Fleming.
Joan's caring and compassion was felt by many. She would go to any lengths to make sure that nobody went without. She was a mentor. Joan encouraged people to keep their head up and often, would help them through their struggles. Joan's sincerity and passion for life shown through in everything that she did. You will be deeply missed!

A Celebration of Life organized by the family will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Church of Christ, 601 Evans Ave., Butte, Montana, 59701.
