Clifford Jacobsen Obituary

Clifford Jacobsen, who passed away in Chicago on September 5, was born in Butte, Montana to Cora Baggerly and Harold Jacobsen on June 26, 1942. He grew up in the mountains of Montana, first an active Boy Scout and later in the Forest Service in the summers between college at the University of Missoula, where he participated in ROTC and studied economics. After his military service in southern California as an intelligence officer, Cliff relocated to Stevens Point, Wisconsin where he had a long and distinguished career as a University economics professor. He was also active teaching adult education, including at local technical colleges and the federal prison, and as a financial advisor. Cliff loved fishing, boating, and hiking with his two daughters and three stepsons. He read voraciously (including Danielle Steele and Wilbur Smith!) and loved long walks in the pine forests of central Wisconsin with his dogs Woofier and Riley. Cliff traveled avidly, including long car rides to his beloved American West. He is survived by his daughters, Amanda Jacobsen and Rebecca Gehle, three stepsons Jamie, Ryan, and Kris Beckland, former wives Rose Mary Jacobsen-Miller and Laura DeWan, ten grandchildren, and older brother, Gary Jacobsen (Portland).
