Doreene Ashpole Obituary

Doreene (Goulet) Ashpole

September 21, 1936 - February 1, 2026

Doreene Ashpole, 89, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in Butte, Montana.

Born on September 21, 1936, in Scobey, Montana, she was the sixth of twenty-one children.

Doreene attended school and spent her childhood on a farm near Scobey, Montana. Throughout her life, she lived in various towns across Montana, Oklahoma, and Washington, but she ultimately settled in Butte, where she raised her children and spent the majority of her years.

Doreene was a woman of determination; once she set her mind to something, it was accomplished. She was a very tidy housekeeper and had a joyful spirit, a love for laughter and singing, especially at church, and was always ready for a shopping trip, seldom driving past a garage sale. Her creative passions included writing poetry and crafting, but she was perhaps best known for her talent in the kitchen. Her family will fondly remember her as the maker of the best pumpkin pie and banana bread. A devoted member of the Church of Christ for many years, she found great comfort in her faith. Above all, she cherished her family and the time they spent together.

Doreene is survived by her son, Dan Ashpole, and daughter, Diana (Ashpole) Sanders; in-law, Donna Ashpole, of Oklahoma; son-in-law, Jerrol Sanders, of Oklahoma; and her son-in-law, Bernie Rask, of Oregon. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Ashley, Kyle, Hailey, Sebastian, Lauren, Clayton, Ben, Leah and Luke; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Ashpole, and her daughter, Debbie (Ashpole) Rask.

A remembrance will be held in her honor at a later date.
