WHITEHALL - Dorothy K. Felix died peacefully June 13, 2007, in Whitehall. She has been cremated, and Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls, Minn.
Dorothy was born Jan. 22, 1914, in Duluth, Minn., to Peter and Florence (Mirow) Merritt and was raised in Minneapolis, attending Washburn High and the University of Minnesota. She taught high school Latin and English in Little Falls and married Attell P. Felix in 1939. She raised five sons and a daughter and then taught French for 12 years at St. Francis High School.
After Attell retired, they divided their time between their Lake Alec home and their fishing cabin near Nestor Falls, Ontario, on Lake Kakag. Dorothy said that her happiest 13 years were spent fishing with her husband. She remained an avid reader, bridge player and swimmer until her late 80s. Dorothy wrote many loving letters to her family and friends, and loved reading to her children and grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Attell; and son, Gary Felix.
She is survived by her sister, Virginia Herrmann; sons, Dennis, Tom, Mike (Mary), Tim (Tamara) Felix; daughter, Jeanne (Garry) Getz; former daughter-in-law, Kathy Youngquist; 10 beloved grandchildren; and three great-grand- children.
Memorials: Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls.
