Harry Seccomb Obituary

Harry LeRoy "Lee" Seccomb Sr.

May 24, 1939 - March 17, 2025

BUTTE - Harry LeRoy "Lee" Seccomb Sr. 85, of Butte, Montana, passed away March 17, at his home surrounded by his family.

Lee was born on May 24, 1939, in Butte to Joseph and Edna Seccomb. He grew up in Centerville, attending the Blaine school and Butte High School, graduating in 1957.

Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Uhlmann and the USS Peidmont.

In 1959, he met the love of his life, Sandra Jean McPhearson. They were married on August 19, 1961. They welcomed their three wonderful children, Harry Leroy in 1962, Laurie Jean in 1964, and Scott Michael in 1970.

Lee was a hard worker, starting as a paper boy at a young age, advancing his career to box boy at Safeway at age 15. After returning from the Navy he worked his way up to the District Advertising manager for Safeway. After leaving Safeway after 29 years, he went to work for Steeles Furniture, where he spent the remainder of his career. When he retired, they had to hire three more guys and buy a forklift.

Lee was always a worker, he would work all day at Safeway and then work another eight hours building their family home. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Home Atherton Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years. He loved woodworking and old cars. He completed his 1956 Chevy in 1997.

Lee was always there to help in any way possible, whether it be a remodel project, or house build, or bringing a gas can. He had a smile that could brighten the darkest of days and under his rough exterior had a heart of gold. And more than anything else, he loved his family. There is a special place in his heart for his granddaughter, his girl, Heather who has been a big part of taking care of "Papa" the last few years. She was there day after day with her little sidekick and the light of Lee's life, Parker.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Edna Seccomb; his mother and father-in-law, John and Dolly McPherson; his three brothers-in-law, John "Don" and Dave McPherson, and Gary Malyevac.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandi; his sister, Beverly Malyevac; his children, Harry Seccomb (Julie Krom) of Post Falls ID, Laurie (Gary) White of Butte, and Scott Seccomb (Keri Marquette) of Butte; his sisters-in-law, Sue MacPherson, Sally Harrington, and Cathy Cashell-McPherson; his grandchildren, Kori (Collin) Douglas, Keli (Adam) Hughes, Kayla Seccomb (Micah Fischer), Heather (Matt) Hettick, Haley White, Cody (Megan) Seccomb, Clay Seccomb, Hunter White and Nora Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Lily, Mavrick, Bolton, Hadleigh, Archer, Witten, Miles, Deacon, Leyton, Parker, Dorian, and baby Seccomb; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and great friends, Vern and Gayle Blakken.

Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday morning, March 25 at 11 a.m. in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home with Father Patrick Beretta officiating. Interment of ashes with military honors will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery.

A special thanks to Dave "The Blind Barber" Isaacson for the house calls. Also, thanks to the Enhabit nurses for there help and comforting care the last few weeks.

Sandi and family. I worked many years ago with LeRoy at Safeway. We shared the same office. He was great fun. I think sometimes we spent more time talking than working. I do remember how much he loved his family and how much he loved being a volunteer fireman. Take care.

Darryl Johnson always had such fond memories of LeRoy and Sandi and all of you camping with him and his first wife Lavina. He fondly remembers the days of the firemen and the social events at the fire hall. What special people you all were to him. Thank you for the memories. Darryl and Claudia Johnson
