Jade Johnson Obituary

Jade Erin (Cottrell) Johnson passed away on September 18, 2025, in Butte, Mont., at the age of 48.

Born on April 4, 1977, in Butte, Jade brought joy from the very beginning with her bright blue eyes and dimples. She was a devoted daughter, loyal sister, proud mother, and excited grandmother.

Though she battled with pain in her body and mind those who knew her remember her for her big heart, empathetic spirit, and beautiful soul. She will forever remind us of the importance of compassion and understanding.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alton Wayne Cottrell.

Jade is survived by her mother, Cyndee (St John) Cottrell of Baker City, Ore.; her brothers, Eric Meron of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Miles Cottrell of Corvallis, Mont., and Dylan Cottrell of Mercersburg, Pa. She also leaves behind her daughters, Aspen Fay and Rheanna Johnson; her son, Eli Johnson; granddaughter, Aleah Cook; grandson, Arlo Johnson; and friend and ex-spouse, Zack Johnson-all of Butte, Mont.

A remembrance reception will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 15 N. Idaho Street, Butte. Food will be served.

In lieu of flowers we encourage the practice of compassion and kindness.

As ex mother-in-law, you've been In our family's lives still as long as you wished and we still are still family, sharing in caring for and helping care for grandchildren in their dailey lives. You were always sweet to everyone with a beautiful smile. I hope you are experiencing peace as you deserve. You'll be sadly missed and your children will continue to have our help and love as usual as we have all these years. Love, Cheryl Madison and all our family.

Cyndee and family, May the Lord comfort you all during this time of sorrow in your loss of Jade. It has been many, many years since we were all in Butte and Jade babysat John (who now goes by JC) and David. Praying for peace as you travel this journey of grief. (Cyndee-if you'd like to contact me, Kim Brown has my contact info).

My sincerest condolences to all of her family. Jade and I went to school together and I always considered her a good friend. We recently chatted about loving being grandmothers. I will miss seeing her, hugging her and catching up. My heart is broken for you, she was a treasure.
