James Ramey Jr.

1948 - 2025

James Ramey JR passed away peacefully at home in Butte, Montana, on October 22, 2025. He was born on February 4, 1948, to Ethel Mae Dickson and James Ramey SR at the old Murray Hospital in Butte. He joined three sisters: Peggy, Colleen, and Sandra.

Jim grew up in Butte and attended local schools. He worked for the Anaconda Company, both at the smelter in Anaconda and the concentrator in Butte. Known affectionately as "Mr. Jim," he had a deep love for cars and hunting. He could often be found at local car washes, meticulously polishing his Dodge Dynasty or his Nissan Frontier-proudly displaying a bull elk on the tailgate.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law Gary Foster SR and Dave Redford; and nephews Gary Foster JR-his best hunting companion-and Chad Foster.

He is survived by his sisters: Sandra Foster, Colleen Redfern, and Peggy Olsen; nephews Shaun Foster, Ringo Foster,Andrew Foster, Jordan Foster and Jay Olson; nieces Tracy Foster, Daniel Miller, Melissa Foster, Lisa Redfern, and Lori Redfern. His circle of hunting buddies included great nephews Matt O'Brien and Cody Foster who deeply miss him.

For the past 35 years, Jim shared a close bond with his special friend Jeanette Fry. Mr Jim Ramey was often seen enjoying meals out with his friend Todd Talbot. Jim never missed a day without speaking to his best friend Wally Salmonson his wife Jeanette and family.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the KC Hall, 224 West Park Street.
