Mary Maroncelli Obituary

Mary Ann "Susie" Maroncelli

December 23, 1946 - October 9, 2024

Mary Ann "Susie" Maroncelli passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2024, at the age of 77 in Keizer, Ore. Susie was born in Chehalis, Wash. to Alexander and Zoreen Ball (Kruzich). She attended Butte Sacred Heart and graduated from Butte High School in Montana in 1964. She married the love of her life, Edward Maroncelli in 1968.

Susie worked for JC Penny's and the American Red Cross before attending Butte Business College. She went on to work for First Metals Bank & Trust and Safeway Distribution Center before moving on to the University of Montana Health Services. She later retired from the City of Salem Housing Authority but enjoyed occasional seasonal work through the IRS after her retirement.

She adored animals and loved spending time with her family, listening to music, gambling, card games and bingo. When younger she enjoyed trap shooting where she competed with her late husband, Ed. She especially loved the outdoors and some of her fondest memories were of times she spent with her daughter and family on the Oregon coast as well as reminiscing about special times in her past.

Susie had a wonderful ability to lift the spirits of those around her and she strived to bring joy and laughter to those she interacted with. She was inquisitive, interested in all people, and empathetic in nature. Susie's life was a testament to resilience. Her incredible courage was evident as she faced multiple medical challenges over the years, which she faced with grace, determination and strength. She was aware that each day was a gift and repeatedly would say that she thanked God every day. Family, friends and especially those who helped to take care of her in her final years meant everything to Susie. Her humor, smile, love, and frequent phone calls will be dearly missed. We will carry the light she left behind and honor her memory and life with a smile for knowing and loving her.

Susie was predeceased by her parents; husband, Ed; brothers, Tom and Robert Ball; sisters, Lucille Ball and Marceline Johanson. She is survived by daughter, Jacqueline (Robert) Maroncelli; brothers, Howard (Paula) Ball, and Karl Gary (Carol) Peterson; sisters, Bonnie (Bill) Gingerich, Mary (Norm) Goodnough; nieces, Lori (Mike) Bishop, Michelle Jackson, Laura Paull, Deb (Gabriel) Skinner-Jones, Sarah Maroncelli and Jenny Maroncelli; nephews, Don Johanson, Shane Ball, Brian (Jennifer) Skinner, Dan (Hailey) Maroncelli, Donald (Stephanie) Maroncelli and Andrew Maroncelli; along with a host of extended family and friends.

A heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful caregivers at The Village at Keizer Ridge and Memory Care who cared for and treated Susie like family and whom she loved very much. Special thanks and appreciation to Willamette Vital Health Hospice for their kindness, guidance and professionalism.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Weddle Funeral Service in Stayton, Ore. In lieu of flowers, donations and/or memorials can be made to the Dementia Society of America, or a charity of one's choice.
