Thomas MacLeod Obituary

Thomas Daniel MacLeod, 87, died peacefully May 25, 2006, in Dallas, with all of his children at his side.

Tom was born to Mary Kelly and Malcolm Blue MacLeod on Sept. 11, 1918, in Butte.

Tom attended St. Patrick Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln Grade School, Butte Central Catholic School in 1936, and Montana School of Mines in 1940. He was an honor student and played football, basketball, was the anchor on the gymnastics team and belonged to the Monogram Club. During his college years he worked underground at several mines in Butte and after graduation, he began his career with the Belmont Mine as a safety engineer.

In 1941, he married Linda Marie "O'Bie" O'Brien and they had two extraordinary pre-war daughters and four so-so sons.

In 1944, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Philippines on a PT boat as commander of PT594.

After the war, he moved his family to Kansas City, Mo., and began a 40-year career with Western Waterproofing and retired as executive vice president.

He was an avid outdoorsman and only caught big fish. He loved hunting and played par golf weekly.

He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart, who became his loving wife of 62 years. He leaves behind six children, Linda Riggins and her two children; Marianne Pruitt and husband, John and their four children and seven grandchildren; Thomas D. MacLeod Jr., and his wife, Barbara, their four children and three grandchildren; John S. MacLeod and his wife, Connie and their four children and two grandchildren; Michael J. MacLeod and his two children; C. Patrick MacLeod and his wife, Cynthia.

All 45 members of the MacLeod Clan will miss him dearly, but are so happy he is reunited with his love Marie and his buddies Turk Oaas and Cussie Cullerton - poor Marie!

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Butte Central Catholic Schools, 9 S. Idaho St., Butte, MT 59701.

Memorial services will be held in Butte at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 18 at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum, 4700 Harrison Ave. Reception follows in the Maroon Athletic Center.

In Loving Memory of a "very special" cousin, 'Tommie' MacLeod. He touched many lives and brought all of his cousins together on many occasions. He will be sorely missed, but his memory will live on.

Linda and Family,

So sorry to hear about your dad. The light touches of humor in his obit really speak to the kind of guy he was. I hope you all find comfort in those memories.
