Wayne McFarlane Obituary

HELENA - Wayne Patrick McFarlane, of Helena, beloved son of Nancy and Don McFarlane, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, due to a traffic accident.

The third child of four, Wayne was born to Don and Nancy on Sept. 3, 1983, in Conrad.

Wayne attended school in Great Falls, Roundup and Deer Lodge while growing up. He graduated from Powell County High School in Deer Lodge in 2001. He attended Montana State University in Bozeman and graduated in 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in cell biology and neural science.

While attending high school, Wayne worked at McDonald's in Deer Lodge. He then worked at Corixa in Hamilton for two summers while attending college and was also a resident adviser and assistant resident director at Montana State University-Bozeman. He also worked at Home Depot in Bozeman and Helena before going to Shodair Children's Hospital in preparation for future schooling. Wayne was employed as a mental health technician at Shodair. He enjoyed working with the staff and children there and was planning on becoming a pediatrician some day.

Wayne was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Cats fan. He loved to go into the outdoors and target shooting. Every time Wayne wanted to buy or get into something he would spend months researching the subject before making a decision. He was considerate of others and loved life. He brought fun and joy into the lives of all those he met.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Nick Patch, and uncle, Dan Patch.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Nancy; sister, Stephanie of Helena; brothers, Stuart who is in the Navy aboard the USS John C. Stennis and Scott of Bozeman; grandparents, Wayne and Joanne McFarlane of Boulder, and Dorothy Moore of Hume, Mo.; three nephews; one niece; and two Godchildren.

Wayne will be greatly missed by all.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 18, in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 120 W. Riggs, East Helena. Cremation has taken place. Family prefers memorials in Wayne's name to that of donor's choice. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Hagler-Anderson Mortuary.

Wayne was the best of friends to me through some tough times. He always knew exactly what to say to make me laugh, even when I was living 2000 miles away. We were good for each other, in that way. I used to joke he was my soulmate :). McFarlane family, you remain in my thoughts and prayers, and I plan to visit often. I don't know what else to say...and for an English major to be out of words, well, I guess that says something.

Wayne was such a great guy. He was genuine in his efforts to help the children at shodair- and that was apparent every time I worked with him. He was always able to make a tense time a little easier. I will greatly miss his caring spirit and the hard work that he contributed. I am extremely sorry for your loss.
