William "Dan" Finley, 72
January 25, 1950 – January 20, 2023
William "Dan" Finley, 72 passed away peacefully at his home in Billings on Friday, January 20, 2023, just days short of his 73rd birthday, his wife Judy, by his side.
Dan was the second of nine children born to Bill and Jean Finley in Butte. Dan was raised in Butte and graduated from Butte High School. Dan attended Montana State University Billings and Montana Tech. Dan loved to fish and spent most of his free time with a fishing pole in the nearest stream or river wherever he was.
Dan was drafted by the US Army and served as an MP (military police) at Fort Ord, California. Upon his honorable discharge Dan moved to Seattle WA and served an apprenticeship with Plumbers and Pipefitter Local 104 while working in the shipyards. Later, he transferred his union membership to Local 41 in Butte MT. He traveled across the country as a proud member of Local 41 eventually settling down in Billings.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Jean Finley; brothers: Mike, Larry and Pat and brother-in-law, Nick Williams.
Dan is survived by his wife, Judy; his brothers: Tim and Jerry (Tammy) Finley; sisters: Jeananne Williams, Irene Finley (Greg Kaufman) and Katie (Roy) Webster as well as his nieces and nephews: Kellee Webster, Eric Webster (Alicia) and her daughter, Logan, Chris (Lacie) Williams and their children: Codie and Haylie, and Danette (Marc) Gilboy and their children: Taryn, Kensley and Addison and Roy and Parker Stidham.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Butte early this summer with a time and place to be announced. Butte was always home to Dan and will be his final resting place. Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

To all of the family, we're truly sorry for the loss of your beloved brother, uncle, & husband. I grew up across the street from the Finley family & always thought of Dan as mischievous & fun loving. Rest in Peace Dan.
