William "Bill" "Baffer" Kasun, 79
November 14, 1942 – June 27, 2022
BUTTE - William "Baffer' Kasun passed away peacefully on June 27, 2022 William was born in Butte on November 14th, 1942 to Joseph "Ole" and Elizabeth "Lee" Kasun. He attended Holy Savior parochial school and graduated from Butte High School.
After high school graduation he joined the military and was given a medical discharge during his service time. He was a multi-faceted athlete where he excelled in track and won the state cross country race while in high school. He played semi professional baseball for the Butte Copper Kings for a number of years and was also a member of the McQueen Athletic club where he was one of the best softball players to ever play the game in Butte. He participated in many bowling leagues throughout the years and played golf at his leisure. William worked as a miner for the Anaconda Company and then as a laborer on many highway construction projects throughout the state and on the Great Falls missile sites until his retirement. He was a member of the Butte Laborers Union.
After his retirement, William was affected by a number of health issues and his sister Liz became his primary caregiver until the time of his death.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph "Ole" and Elizabeth "Lee" Kasun and brother, Joseph "Chooks" Kasun wife, Jean Kasun and most recently his niece, Rockstar Sonya Battermann and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins.
He is survived by brother, Robert "Bones" Kasun (Reek) of Post Falls, Idaho; sister, Elizabeth "Sissy" Spolar (Gene) Joshua, Jennifer, Rachael Battermann (Tom) Michelle Kasun (Gene) Luke Kasun (Amanda) Krissy Kasun Lovshin (Josh) of Butte J.P. Kasun (Wendy) Stanley Kasun, Companion, Maria Lathrop along with many other family members.
We will miss him but are great full for the memories, the time we shared and the knowledge that he's at peace and always did it his way. R.I.P Brother.
