Christopher Calvert Obituary

Christopher Kent Calvert

June 30, 1969 - April 23, 2025

Chris Calvert passed away on April 23rd, 2025, following a car accident. He was 55 years old.

Born in Muscatine, Iowa, on June 30, 1969, Chris lived a life as winding and rugged as the rivers he loved to fish. He graduated from Muscatine High School and spent the last years living in Alabama. Over the years, he worked a variety of jobs, always moving, always adapting. It's hard to say exactly what he did last but anyone who knew him knows he never stayed still for long.

Chris worked hard, and he played harder. He loved loud music, a cold beer, the outdoors, and the kind of laughter that fills a whole room. He found peace in the woods and on the waterhunting and fishing weren't just pastimes, they were where he felt most at home. He had a deep love for his family, even if he wasn't always present.

He is survived by his children, Kayla Carlsten (Jeremy) and Matthew Calvert; his grandchildren, Nick Carlsten, Lynn Carlsten, Elaina Carlsten, Ethan Carlsten, and Alex Carlsten; his 10 siblings: Pam (Rich) Thompson, Maynard (Debbie) Calvert, Clarence Guy (Janice) Calvert, Robert (Maggie) Calvert, Charles (Tammy) Calvert, Kimberly Calvert, Cecil Calvert, Michael (Tracy) Calvert, Michell (Greg) Beik, and Maegan (Brian) Trego.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Maxine (Hintermeister) Calvert.

Chris was complicated funny, stubborn, sometimes hard to reach but he was human. And he'll be remembered, with love, by those who knew him best.

A luncheon will be held by the family on Sunday April 27th at 1 p.m. The celebration of life will take place at 2705 Olgilvie Ave in Muscatine, IA. In his memory, take a moment to be outside, near the water or under the trees, crack open a cold beer, turn up a favorite song, and remember that even distant hearts can still care deeply. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Kayla Carlsten.
