Morton, James H. Muskegon James Henry Morton, age 94, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021, finally reuniting with his twin brother, Tom, who preceded him in death on October 29, 2011. Jim was born January 1, 1927 in Muskegon to Matt and Marie (Robinson) Morton. He was a 1945 graduate of Muskegon Heights High School, and then entered the Navy during World War II. After the service, he attended Michigan State University, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. James worked for the family business, Morton Manufacturing, for 15 years, then spent the next 25 years in golf course irrigation design, retiring from Spartan Distributors in 1990. He married Arlene Lundberg in June of 1950. She preceded him in death in July 1989. He married his second wife, Wilma Bourdon, in April 1991. James was a member of First Congregational Church in Muskegon, a long-time member of the Elks Club, and a tennis tournament player. He enjoyed many summers at the family cottage on Duck Lake, and also loved years of wintering in Naples, Florida. He was a loyal fan of Spartan football. SURVIVORS include three children from his first marriage: Lynne (Roger) Richmond, Mary (Hans) Langschwager, and Steven Morton; stepdaughter, Janet Bourdon; four grandchildren: Matthew Langschwager, Lynne (John) Galonek, Fred Langschwager, and Meghan (Dave) Haeck; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. James was also preceded in death by his sister, Donna (Roger) Holstrom. The family would like to thank and recognize the wonderful staff at both Sanctuary of the Oaks and Harbor Hospice for the exceptional care given to their dad in the later stages of his life. Thanks also to granddaughter, Meghan for her loving supervision and care. James will be inurned in the columbarium at First Congregational Church. A gathering of Jim's family and friends will be scheduled this summer to celebrate his life. For a more lasting memory, donations in Jim's name can be made out to First Congregational Church. Jim and Wilma were always a joy when they came to the Elks for a meal. Just a joy to wait on them. Heidi, a past bartender/cook. Sorry for the families loss.
