AL FASANO
AGE: 82
SOUTH PLAINFIELD
Al Fasano, 82, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at home with his dear wife at his side. Born in South Plainfield, Al has been a life long resident. He was a high school graduate of North Plainfield High School and received a Bachelor's of Science Degree from Rider University in Commerce. Serving in the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII as a radar man, he sailed aboard the USS Langley, before being honorably discharged. Al began a successful career over 50 years ago in the insurance field. He has been working as the Executive Vice President for the Hess Group, Inc., in Warren. He served as a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Union County, where he served as their Director for 20 years. In addition, he was instrumental with the formation of their Junior Golf Tournament, as well as the founding member and President of the South Plainfield Chapter of the United Way. Al also had a passion for the game golf. He was a member of the Raritan Valley Country Club and was very proud of accomplishing and being awarded for his four hole-in-one shots.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 58 years, Iris (DeCamp) Fasano; his son, Garrett of Madison, New Hampshire; and his sister-in-law, Beatrice Meeker of South Plainfield.
The family has requested the omission of flowers. They have asked those wishing to express sympathies, do so in the form of memorial donations to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 9:15 am in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, New Jersey 07080 (www.mccriskinfuleralhome.com). Followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-8 pm in the funeral home.

We just found out today (3/23/09) of Al's passing. We are so very sorry. We will miss him very much. We have known him for a long time from the Bueschel and then the Hess Group. He was a very special man.

Iris, so sorry to hear that Al passed away but I am sure he is at peace with the world and at rest.I only had the pleasure of playing golf with Al a couple of times before moving out of state,beside being a great golfer he was a real gentleman.
