Alan "Mr. Alan The Original" Cohen

AGE: 72 • Bricktown

Alan H. Cohen "Mr. Alan the Original", 72 of Brick, NJ passed away on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at home. He was born in Bronx, NY and grew up in Lakewood, NJ where he graduated from Lakewood High School before moving to Brick, NJ. He was a florist for over 50 years and a Brick municipal employee for over 25 years. Alan was one of the founders of the Brick Hospital Association setting up Annual Fairs to fundraise for the hospital. He was a member of the Jaycee's and the Brick Democratic Club. A commissioner for the Brick MUA. He was the Number 1 Brick Dragon Football Fan, some say he bled green. He also helped started The Brick Summer Fest.

Predeceased by his parents Edward and Shirley Cohen. Survived by his brother Robert Cohen, Freehold, NJ, many cousins and a multitude of friends.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 5-8pm with a 7:30pm Service at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, NJ. Burial will take place on Thursday April 17, 2014 10am at Beth Olam Memorial Park, Lakewood, NJ. Condolences may be made by visiting www.ryanfuneralhome.com

Alan, you are at peace now.You have left many good memories to be cherished. We worked together on the governing board for "The Strand Theatre" now, Ocean County Center for the Arts, in Lakewood NJ Helping with the plans for the restoration and keeping the arts alive in our now elegant beautiful theatre. Enjoyed our fun times, wonderful meals in your home.You gave so much of yourself, giving many generous gifts and donation to many. Can now relax and enjoy the music.

Alan was always helping the Cheerleaders at Brick Memorial filling the balloons, giving us rolls of ribbon, etc. Hehad the most beautiful and healthy flowers of any other. You will be greatly missed.
