Alberta Van Blarcom, 76, of Toms River passed away on August 6, 2016 peacefully with her family by her side.
Alberta was born November 1, 1939 in Elizabeth to Albert and Helen Gliet. She worked at Ocean County Memorial Park in the 80's and was an avid member of the American Legion Post 129. She enjoyed spending time with her family, vacationing with friends, crafting, and gardening. Alberta was a social butterfly and if you had the pleasure of knowing her, she always had fun and something to chat about.
Alberta is predeceased by her husband, William J. Van Blarcom, Sr. She leaves behind her 4 children and their spouses, Lynn Bertolini, Sharon Mennona, William Van Blarcom,Jr., and Sandra Van Blarcom; her 7 grandchildren, Michael Bertolini, Michelle Bertolini, Shannon Lucasiewicz, Robby Mennona, Joseph Bertolini, Will Van Blarcom, and Alexandria Van Blarcom; her great grandchild Emily Lucasiewicz; her sister, Helen Gaffney and brother, Edward Gliet, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
Per her wishes, there will be no wake service; so friends and family are invited to the funeral service Thursday, August 11, 2016 12:00pm at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home in Toms River. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).

My Deepest Condolences to your family. Alberta will be greatly missed not only by family but the many friends who enjoyed being around her. She always made me and many others laugh as she had such a great sense of humor and it is that, that i will always remember. She brought so many people together with her sense of humor and her passion for people to get along. She also had a heart of gold as she was also a warm and compassionate person. i can always close my eyes and see her enjoying herself with the rest of us at the Legion and with the Legion family at the Conventions. Her laugh was infectious.
Yes, she will be missed and was loved by so many. A lovely lady by every sense. Loved her and will miss her greatly.
