Andrew Salmieri Obituary
AGE: 74 • Dayton
Andrew J. Salmieri, 74, of Dayton died Friday, Sept. 5, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he has been a Dayton resident for the past 15 years. He was a United States Army Veteran. Andrew retired in 1993 with over 25 years of service as a Transit Supervisor with the MTA, New York. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church.
Son of the late Joseph and Anna (Manganaro) Salmieri; he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Assunta T. (Ferraro) Salmieri, a son and daughter-in-law, Drew and Aimee Salmieri; 4 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Maria and Rene Cubero, Nadine Salmieri, Stacy and Mike Linchner, Lea Salmieri; 10 grandchildren, Anthony, Taylor, Alex, Justin, Nicolas, Andrew, Nicole, Brianna, Miranda and Govani.
Friends may call on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction. The funeral will be held 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 from the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 10 a.m. St. Cecilia's Church, 10 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Andrew's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.

My grandfather, my namesake, my inspiration. He was a great man and a family man. He was a New York-old timer and a die-hard Yankees fan. He is the reason why I am the man I am today, I always felt close to him. We have so much in common, our name, our birthdays [his is May 17, mine is May 21], our personalities, and our love for our country. He was an old school Italian American. I remember when I was younger sitting with him and watching John Cena wrestle on WWE or the Yankees play. WE would take about the world and about life. His personality was legendary. In my eyes he is a hero and a legend, and legend never die.

Uncle Andy..Having been born on your Birthday will always make me feel close to you! I will always remember your laughter and humor.. I will never stop loving you even if I can not tell you anymore. I will miss you very much.. I do know you will be met by love and peace. You will never alone!
