Annabelle Bostock Kriegel, former Mayor of Warren Township, NJ passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 16, 2013. She was born July 8, 1924, in Newburgh, NY. She attended Newburgh Free Academy and the Brander Matthews Theater at Columbia University. She was employed as a bookkeeper and telephone operator for NY Bell. In 1954, she married her husband Harry and they were together for 60 years. Annabelle was active in the Republican Party. She was a member of the Warren Township planning board, environmental board, township committee and was Mayor in 1982. She served on the County library counsel and the state welfare board. She and her husband were members of Advent Lutheran Church. Despite losing two children to Pompe Disease she was a woman of unwavering faith and devotion.
She is predeceased by her husband, Harry and sons, Harry and Daniel. Annabelle is survived by her sister, Elsie of Newburgh, NY; her son, Dr. Charles Kriegel and his wife Pamela; grandchildren, Ali and Charlie of Winslow Maine. She is also survived by nephew, Edmund Fries and his wife Brenda of Oceanside, CA; nieces, Hon. Wenda K. Travers and her husband Richard Travers, M.D., Stephanie Hoff and her husband Michael Hoff, Esq.; nephews, Charles Kavanagh and his wife Chrissy and Thomas Kavanagh and his wife Kim. She is also survived by several grand-nieces and nephews. She is survived by special friends, Kathy and Shannon McAdams and Joan Phillips. The family would like to thank Dr. Alan Fine, Dr. Herbert Lipschultz and Dr. Gita Patel for their excellent care.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 21st, 2013, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. funeral service at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. Everyone is invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. before proceeding to Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, NY for a graveside service.
