Audrey Donovan Obituary
AGE: 87 • Carteret
Audrey E Donovan ( nee Burke ), 87 of Carteret, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Bayside Manor, Keansburg.She was born in Newark, and lived in Elizabeth and Carteret. She was a Communicant of St. Elizabeth's RC Church, Carteret. Audrey was the Owner/Operator of Audrey's Luncheonette, Carteret, for over 25 years. An Alumnus of Carteret High School Class of 1944.
She is preceeded in death by her devoted husband John Donovan who passed away in 1996; her loving mother Evelyn ( nee Albright ) Burke. She is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law Kerry and Kathleen Donovan of Parkland Florida; dear sister of Ruth Donovan of Carteret; cherished grandmother of Kasey Donovan of Parkland, Florida.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 11 am at St. Gertrudes Chapel Mausoleum, Colonia. Arrangements by the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy.

I was so sad to hear of the passing of Mrs.D The fond memories of her, and me being one of her "girls" at Audrey's was one of the happiest times in my life..Mrs.D was a beautiful soul and a wonderful role model for many generations of girls who were lucky enough to have known her.I visited her a few times after graduation and she never forgot who I was. She was often in my mind and thoughts throughout the years and I will continue to think of her always. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family but I know Mrs.D is now flying with the angels.

Rest in Peace Mrs. Donovan. There are special people who enter into our lives, and for me, Mr & Mrs D. were among them. I ate lunch in "Audrey's" every day while at CHS, and it was always my first stop before going home after school. Mrs D was full of energy and always nice to everyone. I never have forgotten her and never will.

My deepest condolences to the Donovan Family. Mrs D. treated us all like her kids. We all loved her. And to this day, I have yet to have a Clifornia Burger like hers, it was the best. Just like she was the best! Mrs. D may be gone, but our memories of those days at CHS will always be with us.

My thoughts and prayers to the family, she was such a special woman and will be remembered fondly. I was in Carteret 2 weeks ago and took my 8 year old son on a tour of my childhood and I told him about having lunch there and the great woman who was there every day, Mrs. D.
