Carol A. Propsner

Hillsborough - Carol A. Propsner, 89, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Bridgeway Care Center in Hillsborough. Daughter of the late Frederick and Ann Dunekack, Carol was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 4, 1932 and moved at the age of ten to Plainfield, NJ where she was raised and met her husband Eugene Propsner. She and Gene were married on August 15, 1953. They moved to Piscataway in 1957.

Carol was a Plainfield HS Class of 1949 graduate. She then went on to Newark State Teacher's college (now Kean University) where she received her degree in teaching, graduating in 1953.

Carol taught in Plainfield, NJ before her three children were born. After her children were born, she returned to teach at Franklin Elementary School in South Plainfield, NJ and taught first grade. She began her career at Franklin School in 1958 and retired in 1990.

She and her husband moved to Bethlehem, PA in 2000 before she returned to NJ following Gene's death in August 2013. She resided at Brookdale Assisted Living in Hillsborough.

Carol was an active member of the Piscataway High School "Superchief" Band Parents Association and chaperoned many band trips and band camp. She was an active member of the St. Francis Church (Dunellen) ECW (Episcopal Church Women), alter guild, and choir.

Carol also enjoyed traveling with her husband to Ireland, across the USA by train, Hawaii, California and other great destinations. She was a huge NY Mets fan as well as a NY Giants fan. She loved watching baseball and football and traveled to several different MLB parks to see her beloved Mets. She loved to do counted cross stitch and made many beautiful heirlooms that she gave to family members and friends over the years. She was an avid reader and especially loved historical biographies.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved children, Kurt Propsner and wife, Colleen of Bethlehem, PA, Beth Ann Propsner of South Bound Brook, NJ, Lauren Avery and husband, Ben of Bound Brook, NJ; seven grandchildren, Lee Roman and wife, Kelly, Jaime Curro and fiancé Freddy, Kenneth Roman and wife Danielle, Daniel Avery and wife Blake, Keith Avery, Sean Propsner, Kyle Propsner; four great-grandchildren, Sydney Roman, Katherine Roman, Lee Roman, Jr. and Evyn Avery. She was predeceased by her brother, Bruce Dunekack.
