Charles Schneider Obituary
AGE: 87 • Basking Ridge
Basking Ridge: Charles M. Schneider, age 87, died on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Rehabilitation at River's Edge in Raritan. He was born in Newark, raised in Belleville and had lived in Westfield, Spring Lake, Oldwick and most recently at Sunrise of Basking Ridge. Mr. Schneider received his Bachelor's Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Prior to his retirement, he was the Chief of Computer Operations at Colgate Palmolive in New York City. Mr. Schneider served in the US Army Reserves having been stationed out of the Westfield Armory. He was an avid train enthusiast who enjoyed model trains and steam locomotives. He enjoyed home repair projects.
Mr. Schneider is survived by his son, John Schneider and his wife, Jennifer of Green Acres, FL; his daughter, Laura Singer and her husband, Jordan of Bound Brook and 4 grandchildren Jessica Fallet (Wayne), Philip Singer (Sonia), Dylan and Ryan Schneider and 2 great-grandchildren Jordan Singer and Madeline Fallet.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22nd from 6-9 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday at 9 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Funeral Mass at Blessed sacrament Church in Martinsville. Charlie hired me in 1970 to work for him at Colgate Palmolive and very soon he became my mentor and then a friend. I was extremely fortunate to have found Charlie in my life and he will be greatly missed. May he now rest in peace.

Charlie was a good man and a example for young employees at Colgate. He set the bar for doing things right and was a results oriented person. I for one looked up to Charlie and welcomed his leadership. His example provided guidance to several employees at Colgate.

Charlie Schneider was beloved and respected by those who worked for him at Colgate Palmolive. He could deal firmly with business associates when necessary. (I once saw the hair on his neck stand on end when a sales person who had just met him called him "Chuck.") But it was his smile that we will remember most. Charming, infectious, a real team player. Grateful that you are now resting in peace, my dear friend.
