Dana Zakutney Obituary
AGE: 18 • Neptune
Dana Maria Zakutney, 18, of Neptune, joined her father, Steven in heaven on Thursday, July 4, 2013. Dana graduated from Neptune High School in 2013 and was headed to Rutgers State University this fall before her life was tragically cut short. Her strong will and perseverance earned her a membership into Jumpstart Medical Science Academy and honors program admitting less than 1% of the schools population working from JSUMC, RWJUMC and UMDMJ. Her pursuant was PhD in medical science. With an innate passion for sports, Dana lettered in field hockey and softball; learning how important it is to compete as a team. This proved off field as well, because she was so loved by all and touched everyone in a most beautiful way. She is predeceased by her hero, and beloved father, Steven, formerly of Wall. She is survived by her loving and devoted mother, Rachel Ciocca, her brother Dominic of Neptune and her sister, Emma of Wall; her Uncle David and Aunt JoAnn Farruggio of Manahawkin; her cousin, Brianna Rossi (Warren), also of Manahawkin, David Ciocca of Bradley; her grandparents, Jack and Carol Zakutney, Aunt Stephanie, cousins, Abby and Ryan Showers, all of Phillipsburg, PA and those hundreds of friends she knew and loved. Friends and family are invited to view from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Ely Funeral Home, Neptune. A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. Condolences may also be made online at www.elyfuneralhome.com.

I do not know your precious daughter Dana, however I know what you are going through since I have suffered the most devastating loss a parent can have. I lost my son in 1998. When I saw your beautiful daughter in the paper I had to leave you this message, for even though we never met. My deepest sympathy on your loss. Even though I personally do not know Dana, I feel for you, I can't imagine the pain of losing one's child. I pray that our merciful "God of all comforts" grant you peace and strengthen you and your family during this tragic time. (Rom. 15:4) My sincere condolences to you all.
