David Gersh Obituary
AGE: 55 • Bedminster
David Gersh, age 55, of Bedminster, NJ, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, March 12, 2016. Born in Sleepy Hollow, NY, he was the son of the late Marvin and Mila Gersh of Oldwick and Whitehouse Station, NJ. David had resided in Parsippany before moving to Bedminster 18 years ago. He currently was a real estate agent for Weichert and worked out of their Bedminster office.
David attended Johnson & Wales Culinary School in Providence, RI. He was a co-owner of Spiotta's Restaurant in Whitehouse Station for about ten years. He had been a co-owner of Bedminster Travel prior to that. David loved visiting the Caribbean Islands, in particular, his ancestral home Curacao and Bonaire, where his family had a home for many years..
He is survived by his sister, Miriam Maduro and her companion, Ian Hart of Pittsfield, MA; his uncle and aunt Eugene and Bonnie Gersh of IN; his two nephews, Adam and Mark Goodman of Pittsfield, MA and his cousins, Nina and Norman Gruenberg of Asbury, NJ. In addition he is survived by his extended family from Curacao, Costa Rica, Venezuela, the Netherlands, Florida and wonderful friends from Bonaire. He loved them all dearly and all his family and friends will miss his gentle soul and generous heart.
Visitors will be received at Miriam Maduro's home in Pittsfield, MA on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. A service will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 PM. The family has requested no flowers. Donations may be made in David's memory to The American Diabetes Associates, The American Cancer Society or Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires. Will miss my lovely friend, David. The first friend I made in Briarcliff. We had so many wonderful times together, so many laughs and inside jokes... and how much luckier could a person get to be brought into the family fold of the Gershes, who took very good care of me? Lifelong pals, we were. I'll miss our talks and your laugh.
