Edgar Butterline Obituary
AGE: 83 • North Brunswick
Edgar W. Butterline died Thursday, July 7, 2016 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 83.
Born and raised in South River, he lived in North Brunswick since 1967. A US Navy veteran from the Korean War, Edgar graduated from Michigan State University and worked for AT&T from 1958 to 1996, retiring as a network engineer. Edgar was employed subsequently as a technical consultant at Symmetricom until finally retiring in 2001. Dedicated to his profession, Edgar worked with various communication standards groups at the US Department of Commerce. A member of the Telephone Pioneers, he was a deacon and elder at the First Presbyterian Church of New Brunswick.
Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Joan (DeHart); sons: Mark of Maynard, Massachusetts and Brett of Piscataway; grandchildren: Ryan, Hannah, William, Jake, and three nephews.
Relatives and friends may visit on Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

Fondly remembering Mr Butterline. I went to college with Mark and Marianne, where I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Butterline. I was invited to a Sunday Dinner, with the family. As was the tradition, at the end of the meal, Mr B said - what game shall we play tonight? He really enjoyed having the family together, and enjoyed a good challenging game.
I know he will be missed. I am praying that even in the sadness, memories of the fun times will provide comfort. May Mr B rest in peace.
