Edward Darcy Obituary

Edward O. Darcy

Brick - Edward O. Darcy, age 59 of Brick, NJ died peacefully at home after a long battle with illness on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Edward was born on January 10, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY and was raised in Waldwick, NJ before moving to Brick. Edward dedicated his life to service; he was the consummate first responder. He had a strong sense of duty, and served his country abroad in the US Navy, earning the Navy Expeditionary Medal during his enlistments at sea in the Persian Gulf. After his Naval career, Edward transitioned to emergency medical services, as a Chief EMT at Jersey City Medical Center. Edward then joined the Dept. of Interior as a law enforcement officer at Gateway National Recreation Area, as well as time spent with the Department of Defense at Naval Weapons Station Earle. In his free time, Edward enjoyed the outdoors and was a particularly avid fisherman. He was a proud member of VFW Post 8867 and devoted his energy to helping fellow veterans. Most of all, he loved to make others laugh and he never missed an episode of Jeopardy. He was preceded in death by his father Owen Darcy and sister Shannon Darcy. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Janet Darcy, twin sons, Myles Darcy and his wife Stephanie and Sean Darcy, mother Nancy Darcy, brother, Robert Darcy and sisters Candace Holloway and Rachel Darcy. A memorial gathering will be celebrated on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 3-7pm at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Rd., Brick, NJ 08723. A memorial service will take place Friday, 10:30am at the funeral home. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 8867, 373 Adamston Rd, Brick, NJ 08723. Condolences may be sent to the family www.weatherheadyoung.com

Ed was my best Navy and beyond friend a guy could want. Funny! Always had my back.
I will always miss him.
( in the "relationship" box it, friend doesn't cover it... SHIPMATE does!)
