Eleanora Olsen Obituary
AGE: 87 • Perth Amboy
Eleanora (Ellie) Marie Nagy Olsen, 87, of Perth Amboy entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014. Born in Perth Amboy on Oct. 31, 1926, she lived and was raised in Fords. She was a student of the Woodbridge school system and attended Charles E. Gregory School of Nursing, graduating in 1949. She was a Nurse in the Obstetrics Unit of Perth Amboy General Hospital from 1949 to 1952. After assisting in the delivery of many friends' babies, she left the Obstetrics Unit to start her own family. Having raised her three children, she returned to nursing in the Decubitus Care Unit of Roosevelt Hospital. She retired from Roosevelt Hospital in 1986 as Head Nurse after 17 years of service. She was a member of the Raritan Yacht Club, Concerts By The Bay, Perth Amboy Women's Club, Friends of Perth Amboy Library, Proprietary House Association, ASPCA, Raritan Bay Medical Center, Charles E. Gregory School of Nursing Alumni Association, the US Cadet Nurses' Corp., and Blessed John Paul II Parish - St. Mary's R.C. Church.
Ellie was predeceased by her beloved husband, the Honorable Donald F. Olsen, Sr., former Mayor of Perth Amboy and Surrogate Judge of Middlesex County; her parents, Louis, Sr. and Anna Nagy; her half-brothers, Louis Nagy, Jr., Charles Nagy, and Cornelius Nagy; and her sister, Olga Herbert. She is survived by her three children, Kathy Olsen, Don Jr., and his wife, Jill, and Peter and his wife Susan; her grandchildren, Michael and Kelly Olsen; and her great-grandchild, L'Nora whose birth she was so happy and grateful to be a part of.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Blessed John Paul II Parish - St. Mary's R.C. Church, 104 Center Street, Perth Amboy. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanora's name may be made to the American Cancer Society Memorial Program, New Jersey Division, Inc., Middlesex Unit, 846 Main Street, Fords, NJ 08863 or to Concerts By The Bay, 104 Market Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. I was just informed of your mothers passing. My deepest sympathy to Don, Kathy and Pete.....my memories of your mother are fond ones. I am sorry I didn't know sooner I would have come up to pay my respect. Please know you will all be in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time !

Deepest sympathies and condolences to Ellie's family...she was a great lady and a true Perth Amboyan. I shall miss her goodness, her smile and her laugh, but I am sure God will be delighted!
