Emily Senko Obituary

Emily M. Senko

AGE: 90 •

Emily M. Senko passed away peacefully on Friday July 31, 2015. Emily recently celebrated her 90th birthday with her loved ones and close friends. She enjoyed a very memorable birthday party held on June 26, 2015. Emily's wisdom and life lessons shared through her stories were insightful to many.

Her laughter was contagious, her strength and strong willed determination were amazing! She survived on LOVE as her goal because of her strong family and religious values. She continuously fought and overcame unsurmountable odds, while maintaining a positive outlook. In her younger years, Emily loved ice skating, roller skating, bike riding, horseback riding and shopping. She closely followed Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, The Voice, and America's Got Talent because of her deep love for music and dance. She was also a New York Yankees fan. Emily enjoyed Socializing, Birds, Butterflies, Flowers, Cats, Decorating, and Cooking. She was a skilled expert in Crocheting and Knitting. She strongly believed in her Byzantine Catholic Faith. She especially enjoyed her visits with Father Ed. Emily was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NJ.

She supported all Military Veterans and recently received an impressive certificate from the Veterans of Foreign Wars citing her as a VFW Gold Member. She also supported The Humane Society, Manville Police and Rescue Squad because she loved to help others. Emily was born in Trenton, NJ, lived her early years in Lawrenceville, NJ near Rider University with her beloved father Joe, mother Mary, and four brothers Joe, Miles, Frank and Rudy. Additionally she lived in both Oklahoma and Alabama with her husband Joe who was serving in the Army before overseas deployment. She also lived in East Millstone, NJ.

She was a resident of Manville, NJ since 1952 except for living in Schenectady, NY from 1958 to 1960, a time she loved so well. After the passing of her husband Joe, Emily later married Nicholas. He was an excellent caregiver and provider to Emily. She spoke of missing Nick often. Emily was extremely close to her Sons Joe and his wife Lois and Tommy, Step-son Corey, and beloved Granddaughter Carey. She also had significant relationships with her niece Terry, Grand Niece Elysia, Niece Sheila, Nephew Randy and her close friends: Grace, Dottie, Cher, Frank K., Debbie, Kurt and many special family members and friends. Emily always put others needs in front of her own, a true LOVING SPIRIT WHO BELIEVES IN OUR LORD. She will be remembered for her kind-hearted nature and beautiful smile.

The viewing will be on Wednesday August 5, 2015 from 5 to 8 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. The Funeral will be on Thursday August 6, 2015 9:30 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 AM Divine Liturgy at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hillsborough, NJ.
