Everett Acker Obituary

Everett L. Acker, 80, of Addison, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Allegiance Health in Jackson. He was born Sept. 19, 1932, in Midland, to Harvey and Dorothy (Longenbach) Acker. He married Charlotte Marcy on June 13, 1951, in Midland, and she passed away on March 16, 2004. He married Rose Godden on August 1, 1987 in Las Vegas, Nev., and she preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2002. Everett married Elaine Saunders on April 19, 2003, in Addison, and she survives.

Everett lived his early life in Midland and then lived in the Addison area for many years. He graduated from Midland High School in 1950. He worked for LaGrand Smith of Addison, milking cows before starting E. Acker Excavating, and being in business from 1968-1998. He was a member of the Addison Kiwanis Club and a member of the Addison Congregational Church.

Surviving beside his wife, Elaine are four sons, Dale (Niki) Acker of Litchfield, David (Tammy) Acker of Addison, Dean (Shawn) Acker of Midland and Doug Acker of Alabama; two stepchildren, Beverly (Gary) Osborn of Florida, Fred (Jody) Saunders, of Addison; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dan Acker of Cement City, Russ (Sally) Acker of Sand Lake and Frank (Nancy) Acker of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two sisters, Bonnie Gregg of Midland, Virginia (David) Bartow of Midland; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, JoAnn; and two brothers, Gaylord and Gerald Acker.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with Pastor Kevin M. Duffy and Pastor Keith W. Porter officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. this evening, and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday. Cremation will take place after the funeral service and burial will be made in Hillside Cemetery in Addison, MI.
