FRANCIS COMUNE
BRIDGEWATER
Francis "Judgie" Comune, of Bridgewater, died Friday, February 13, 2009, at Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. He was born in Plainfield in 1932 and moved to Bridgewater in 1966. He remained close with many of his boyhood friends from the East End of Plainfield. He worked for Metropolitan Life for 28 years and was a past president of the Metropolitan Veterans Association. He was proud of his Italian Heritage and was an avid Yankee and Notre Dame Fan. He was also a faithful Immaculata High School sports fan. He served during the Korean Conflict in the occupation of Germany from 1953 to 1955. He was part of the 7th Army in the 5th Infantry Division. He loved the service and his country. He flew the American Flag every day and encouraged everyone to do the same. He was a Charter and life time member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 5959 of Martinsville. Frank was the chairman of the Knights Annual Family Communion Breakfast for 40 years. He was named Knights of Columbus Senior Citizen Of The Year for the State of New Jersey in 1997, "In recognition for his outstanding service to the church, the community, and a genuine concern for his fellow man". He was also a past Grand Knight and a member of the Fourth Degree. Frank was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Somerville, and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Somerset Medical Center since 1985. He was honored by Immaculata High School in 1990 with the Spartan of the Year Award. He was proud to be a member of the Immaculata Family. He was also a daily communicant at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville.
He was predeceased by his parents, Sandella and Gaetano Comune; and his brother, Tom Comune. He is survived by his wife, Marie of 46 years; his children, Mary Francis and husband John of Somerville, Lillian Freeman and husband Michael of Barto, PA, his son, John of Somerset and three grandsons, Michael, Matthew and Lucian. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Judgie drew inspiration from a quote from Norman Vincent Pearle: "People who make a success out of their lives are people who give, even when they don't have anything to give" and "you can always give a smile, you can always give love and you can always give service".
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church on Mountain Avenue in Somerville. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Monday, February 16 from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. It was our great privilege to have known "Judgie" for many years. With Judgie, what you saw is what you got. He was as real and as honest as anyone you're likely to meet in this life. His attitude towards life was almost child-like in its innocence and in his ability to see nothing but good in everyone and everything.

We send our condolences and prayers to Marie, Lillian, Mary Francis and John, and we selfishly ask prayers for all those whose lives will be forever diminished with Judgie's passing.

I'm going to miss the great one liners judge would say (like dad) and that great laugh which was so contagious and felt so loved when he heard my voice or when we got to spend time with each other. My prayers are with you Aunt Marie, Lily, John and Mary Francis...
