George F. Barbuty, Jr.

AGE: 77 • formerly of Bridgewater

George F. Barbuty Jr., 77 of Delray Beach, Florida formerly of Bridgewater, NJ passed away at his home on April 20, 2011 surrounded by his loved ones. George was born on July 19, 1933 in Plainfield NJ. He is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George and Mary (neeQuick) Barbuty. George served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a journeyman plumber with Local #24 retiring in 1995. George had been a long time member of Plainfield Local #103 NJ, where he served terms as financial secretary and president. He was a founding member of the Bridgewater United Methodist Church, serving on the building committee. In retirement George volunteered with Habitat for Humanity South Palm Beach County Chapter, and was the recipient of the 2008 Humanitarian Award for his passion, dedication, and service to others. George was a member of local Orchid and Rose Societies. He loved spending time with wife Susan out in their garden. He was never far away from his tools, either remodeling his florida home or making repairs to the Mt Lake house they loved so much each summer. George enjoyed traveling, an avid reader and history buff, he attended many Elderhostel Programs with Susan. He loved sailing and most of all being with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife Susan Ricards Barbuty having just celebrated their 56 wedding anniversary. His children, Cynthia and husband Joseph Fulton of Lebanon NJ, Edward Barbuty of Mt Lake NJ, Donna and husband Michael Wright of Palm Beach Gardens FL, Robert Barbuty of Bedminster NJ, and Karen and husband Daniel Aversa of Bridgewater NJ. Also his loving grandchildren Allison and Andrew Fulton, Megan and Devan Barbuty and Emily, Erin, and Ethan Aversa.

Funeral Services will be held Friday April 29, 2011, 11AM in the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 Washington Ave Washington NJ. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment in the Buttzville Cemetery, Buttzville NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's name to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave.,West Palm Beach, FL 33407, The Cancer Hope Network, 2 North Road Suite A, Chester, NJ 07930 or the Mt Lake Fire Company, 99 Tamarack Road, Belvidere, NJ 07823.
