George Harrison

AGE: 81 • Bound Brook

George Harrison, 81, died Sunday, July 26, 2015, at his home in Bound Brook, with his loving family by his side. Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, Mr. Harrison attended Milton Hershey School where he lettered in football and wresting. He graduated in 1952. Following graduation, he joined the US Navy, and served in the submarine service, during the Korean War. Mr. Harrison was honorably discharged in 1961.

He attended Wilkes University for two years, then transferred to Trenton State Teachers' College, where he wrote for the school newspaper. He graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts. Mr. Harrison taught English, Shakespeare, Creative Writing, and Science Fiction at Somerville High School for 25 years. He also served as Debate Team Advisor, before retiring in 1991. Following his retirement, he pursued his interests in photography, woodworking, hiking, drawing, spending time with family, and reading. Mr. Harrison was also known to many for his great love of animals.

Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annmarie (Romano); his daughter, Cathleen Ludlow, and her husband, Adam of Bound Brook; his beloved granddaughters, Catherine and Caden Ludlow; his sisters, June Andes and Pat Michels; brother, William Shoplick; cousins (his buddies), Brent, Bart, Brock, and Bryce Mundy; nephew, Ken Duda; niece, Pat Greenburg, as well as many additional cousins, nieces and nephews that he held dear.

Viewing will be at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook on Thursday, July 30 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 31, at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka KS 66675. www.woundedwarriorproject.org

We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and all SUBVETS and their families have your family in our thoughts and prayers.
