GERALD "JERRY" BROWN
AGE: 80 FORMERLY OF BRIDGEWATER
Gerald "Jerry" Brown, after a long and courageous battle with cancer has passed away peacefully at his home in Loveladies, with his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary and loving family by his side. A life well lived! Born and raised in Somerville, Jerry graduated from Somerville High School, class of 1946 and was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering, now known as NJIT. For most of his career, he was with Wigton-Abbott Corp., Architects and Engineers from Plainfield. In 1984, he joined the N.J. Department of the Treasury as the assistant project director for the State House restoration and renovation from which he retired in 1993. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and Scout Master of Troop #188, Bridgewater, a lifetime member of the Somerville Elks Lodge #1068, a lifetime member of the Carpenter's Union Local #455 of Somerville, a member and Sachem of Wickcheoche Tribe #24 Improved Order of the Redman and a member of the Long Beach Island Kiwanis Club. Before moving permanently to his summer residence on Long Beach Island, Jerry lived in Bridgewater for 43 years with his wife, the former Mary Ellen Pellegrin.
He was predeceased by his son, Gerald John Brown Jr., in 2005. He will be missed by a daughter, Debra Christie and son-in-law, Edward Christie; a daughter, Pamela Pavlak and her husband John Pavlak; three grandchildren, Jason Christie, Alison Christie, and Michele Pavlak; and a great-grandson, Luke Edward Christie. He also leaves his siblings, Everett Brown and his wife Lorraine, Donald Brown and his wife Shirley, and Patricia Brygier and her husband Walter.
A memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m. Sunday, April 19 until the Funeral Liturgy at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of the Holy Innocents, Marine Street, Beach Haven. Memorial donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1035 Hooper Ave., Toms River NJ 08753, or to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, One Meridian Road, Suite 5, Eatontown, NJ 07724 in Mr. Brown's memory. Arrangements are by Bugbee Riggs Funeral Home, Ship Bottom.

Dear Mary & Members Of The Brown Family. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on the recent passing of Jerry. I shall always remember my wonderful association with you and Jerry when your children attended High School East. To Mary my classmate at Somerville High School may the wonderful memories you and your family sharred with Jerry sustain you in your time of grief. Also know that many people are thinking of you and your family during this most difficult time. May Jerry rest in Peace.
