Irene L. Sleczka

Perth Amboy - Irene L. Sleczka, 96 passed away after a brief illness on October 31, 2018. Irene was a lifelong resident of Perth Amboy.

She is predeceased by her parents Francis and Joseph; sister Louise and brothers Walter, Edward and Stanley. She is survived by nieces, grand nieces, nephews and grand nephews and cousins located across the country who were very dear to her. Irene is also survived by her special and caring friend Ronnie Lacko.

Irene was a woman of strong faith in God and valued the importance and rewards of hard work in life. She worked for many years at Polonia Furniture in Perth Amboy and later retired from a career she loved with Bankers Trust at the young age of 72. Her greatest joy was to entertain at her home sharing stories of her life experiences, family, the stock market and news of the day. She loved reading; writing and receiving letters from friends and family, playing cards, talking on the phone, maintaining her home and garden and was always up for the challenge of a word game. She had a great sense of humor and kept her quick wit her entire life. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.

Also a special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph's Senior Home- Assisted Living & Nursing Center, Woodbridge, NJ for their wonderful care and friendship.

A funeral mass in honor of Irene will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 5; at Saint John Paul II Parish at St. Stephen's Church, 490 State St, Perth Amboy. Burial will follow in St Gertrude's Cemetery.
