Jane Yaremko
Fords - Jane Yaremko, 99, of the Fords section of Woodbridge, passed away Monday, April 5th, at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Jane was born in Perth Amboy, on January 11, 1922, to Joseph and Ella (Brown) Scarantino. She grew up in Perth Amboy and graduated with the class of 1939 Perth Amboy High School. Jane worked as a cashier before becoming credit manager for Lerner Shops at Menlo Park Mall. She then became employed as bookkeeper for Kagan-Dixon Wire Company in Iselin before retiring in 1982.
Jane was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Perth Amboy.
She was very well known amongst the local senior social groups. Especially with the Fords-Keasby Seniors, for whom she was the treasurer for more than 30 years. She had also been a lifelong member and treasurer of the Woodbridge Elks Emblem Club.
Jane and her husband, Charles, loved to dance. She traveled much in her retirement and went to Europe, a few times, enjoying her favorite destination, Italy, with her much-loved cousin Nancy and Rudy Cicchetti. She was a longtime avid Yankees fan. If she wasn't watching the Yankees, she was cooking in the kitchen. Jane was a remarkably strong and caring woman.
She is predeceased by her wonderful husband, Charles, her parents, Joseph and Ella Scarantino, granddaughter-in-law, Cheryl Pitiak and step great-grandson, William Sweat III. Survived by her loving daughter Kathleen Pitiak and husband, Robert, her sons Charles N. Yaremko and Kenneth J. Yaremko. Cherished grandchildren Robert F. and Michael C. Pitiak along with step grandchildren James Carvalho and Taran Schiel, her brother Joseph Scarantino and wife Jean, and her always-helpful loving neice, Maryann Panick. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends may visit Sunday, April 11, from 2pm - 6pm at Flynn & Son Funeral Homes, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords. The funeral will commence at the funeral home Monday, April 12 at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Perth Amboy.
