John Corcoran Obituary

John Thomas (Jack) Corcoran

AGE: 76 • Red Bank

John Thomas Corcoran (Jack), 76, of Red Bank, died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013. Born in Red Bank to Mary and Thomas Corcoran, Jack attended St. James Grammar School and Red Bank Catholic High School. Jack was a member of the RBC Casey's 1955 basketball team leading the team in scoring and earning All Shore and All-State Honors. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1959 and employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Middletown until retiring in 2001.

In 1992, Jack brought the Most Excellent Way Ministries (M.E.W.) to Monmouth County from California. M.E.W. - provides Christian solutions for addiction and other life-controlling problems to those who are in need. What started as a small group meeting at a local school spread through the state of NJ, where over 100 meetings are held today.

Jack was a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle who had a heart for the less fortunate among us. John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Trudy, and his children, Debra (Corcoran) and Jon Moren of Middletown, Michael and Kimberly Corcoran of Lincroft, Carol (Corcoran) and David Killeen of Tallahassee, FL. John was a beloved Pop-Pop to his 8 grandchildren, Justin and Christopher Moren, Meghan and Caroline Corcoran, and Daniel, Thomas, Michael and Paul Killeen. He also was a loving brother to his sister, Margaret Tulibacki of Mrytle Beach, SC, and brother, William "Billy" Corcoran of West Covena, CA. John will forever live in the hearts of his family, friends and those touched by his ministry - "Arise and shine for my glory will be seen upon you - your radiance will attract my people and your hearts will swell with joy."

A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Bridge Avenue, Red Bank and will be followed by the interment at the Fair View Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to benefit the Most Excellent Way c/o The Salvation Army, 605 Asbury Ave, Asbury Park, NJ 07712. I am saddened to hear of jack's passing. I met him about 3 years ago at St. Anthonys church. He used to joke with me about saving a seat fro him and Trudy every Sunday.I enjoyed the conversations we would have. Jack was really a great guy, I wish I had known him earlier. Love talking sports with him after mass. God Bless him, and my deepest condolences to his wife Trudy and family.

Jack was a classmate from 1949 at St James Grammar School when I arrived in 6th grade...fondly recall sitting in back of the classroom with him ,Bill Dowlen, Frank J in 7th grade... talking baseball with the amazing surge of the Dodgers in '51 against his beloved Jints while in 8th grade...exceptional athlete in RBC, whether BB or baseball..lost track of the lad after RBC but learned of his comeback from the depths and his resurgence, helping others to see the Way he himself had traveled...faithful RBC Reunion attender...he was comfortable with his final situation when I saw him in Riverview...just an inspirational guy who was waiting for his rightful place with the Lord..he made me feel good about his future as I left his bedside..I am proud to have known Cork and he certainly was lucky to have found the love of his life,Trudy...May he rest in peace.
